Stem Cell Therapy Saves Pets Lives Now!

You've read so much about Stem Cell Therapy in the newspapers, that the controversy can sometimes overwhelm the information.

But Stem Cell Therapy has already proven itself to be a boon to the health of people and now, to dogs as well. Recent double blind studies have shown conclusively that stem cell therapy can dramatically help dogs suffering from arthritis, tendon and ligament problems and a host of other diseases. And we're thrilled to tell you that Dr Raclyn has been credentialed to perform this treatment and that this new therapy is now available at our three hospitals for the appropriate cases.

What is it used for?

Orthopedic Injury or Degeneration: Since 2005, selected clinics have treated dogs with osteoarthritis and orthopedic soft tissue injuries. Initial studies demonstrate that intra-articular administration of Stem Cells significantly decreases pain and improves comfort in the majority of cases. Duration of the benefit from a single injection varies from several months to more than one year.

This is recommended for pets that have had orthopedic surgery that may not have turned out well (as is the case, unfortunately, on occassion), or for dogs that have hip dysplasia or elbow dysplasia that hasn't responded well to non-steroidal anti-inflamamatory drugs or acupuncture.

Muscle, Tendon and Ligament Injuries:

It is also indicated for muscle or tendon problems and can actually help in the repair of muscle, tendon or ligament tears (althought not full tears), and even help restore normal function after surgery to repair these injuries.

Internal medicine applications: Besides the overwhelming scientific data demonstrating the clinical efficacy of Stem Cell Therapy in animals, many additional studies demonstrate success in treating systemic disorders such as strokes and heart disease, muscular dystrophy, and immune-mediated disorders. Based on these studies, Vet-Stem is developing protocols to treat internal medicine conditions, and we are open to trying Stem Cell therapy when indicated, and when possible.
